Writing

Tristan Gillen, originally from the UK, has been spending his time in Lisbon since 2022. The covid pandemic pushed him out of London, where he'd lived for the previous 5 years. In light of covid, London became an expensive place to do nothing in. He decided to leave his country of birth to experience life in another place. His first stop was Budapest for 2 years with his half-Hungarian friend, Jonny.

When the pandemic had subsided and people filed back into their usual lives and old routines, and inspired by his first taste of life in another country, he had a desire to explore a new culture and location. So, he was led to Lisbon. This time, he made the move on his own without knowing anyone in the city.

He documented his experience moving to Lisbon and his general observations of life in Lisbon in a little black book he carried around everywhere with him. He had no intentions to do anything with the writing. But, after meeting fellow Lisbon resident, Will and seeing his beautiful, colourful documenting of the city in another format he couldn’t help but put them together in what is now “A Life in Lisbon”.

Will is a portrait, travel and lifestyle photographer who has a heavy emphasis on bright colours across all his projects. He aims to create work that is vibrant, joy-inducing and youthful. He’s shot for globally recognised brands such as Sony, British Airways, Virgin, Wired, MC Saatchi and many more. And he’s done portraits of stars such as Ed Sheeran, Jack Black, Will I Am and Post Malone to name just a few.
